Change to Breakfast Program and Student Start Day Reminder

I wanted to let you know about a change to our breakfast procedures that began today. Students who would like to eat breakfast will receive and eat their breakfast in the cafeteria. Students must remain in the cafeteria to eat their breakfast and can leave the cafeteria once finished. No food or drinks will not be permitted to leave the cafeteria.

Parent please remember that when dropping off your student in the morning that First Period starts at 7:25 a.m. We are seeing way to many students being dropped off after that, and they are being marked late to school.

CATCH My Breath Program

Most teens are curious about e-cigarettes, and vaping. This has been a growing problem in middle and high schools across the country. This week, our students will begin a four-week curriculum in their Wellness and Fitness Classes called CATCH My Breath, a research-based curriculum to prevent youth vaping. This program was developed by health education experts from The University of Texas School of Public Health.

Survey data shows that most teens believe that e-cigarettes are safe. In reality, e-cigarettes contain nicotine and toxins, some of which are known to cause cancer. Nicotine is highly addictive, especially to a developing teen brain. What begins as experimentation can easily lead to a lifetime of nicotine addiction.

As a parent or guardian, you have a lot of influence over your child’s choices. It is not always easy for parents and kids to talk about these topics together. Yet research has shown that when parents tell their teens not to use tobacco, they are much less likely to do so. Thank you for your support, and be sure to talk with your child about what they’re learning. CATCH My Breath is a curriculum used in regional school districts, including Downingtown, West Chester, Unionville-Chadds Ford and Kennett Consolidated School District.
